How to use the Tacks and Gybes (Jibes) recognition tool

Waterspeed can identify and calculate some statistics about tacks and gybes, for many sports.

From the 3 dots menu, near the Play button, you can choose to show or hide on the map. If you click on the map, you will see the average speed and the single-point speed of the turn, the angle, the entry and exit speed, if the maneuver is missed, and the direction of the maneuver. This feature is only available if it is a sport with a "sail".

.

The app will also show some totals:

.

And you will be able to access the complete list of tacks and gybes, which will also show % missed maneuvers (speed less than threshold).

What if it doesn't work correctly: the problem is probably related to the wind direction. Click on "Edit", to change the wind information.

Note: sometimes, the app recognizes a small dragging/drifting in the water as a turn. The best solution is to CUT/TRIM out that portion of the map (search for the related article about the CUT/TRIM tool).
